Our Philosophy

The Learning Castle’s aim is to provide a secure and dynamic environment for all children to achieve their full potential.

Our Castle recognises that Whanau and Kaiako play an important role in the learning and development of children. We value and respect the unique knowledge and contribution of parents and whanau in the decision-making process around their child’s education and care.

We have an emergent curriculum that encourages and empowers children to learn through play.

This philosophy enables our children to:

  • grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body, and spirit
  • secure in their sense of belonging
  • build the knowledge to make a valued contribution to society in their own unique way

At “The Learning Castle” we believe in building lifelong memories for children and their families.

Our programme is based on the Early Childhood Curriculum, TeWhāriki and evidence of this is identified through formal and informal planning and assessment methods. We endeavour to acknowledge the unique place of Maori children and their whanau as knowledge holders and rangatira and our practices demonstrate that.
